I have had a red and swollen sore on the lip of my vagina.

This answer was rated:

I have had a red and swollen sore on the lip of my vagina. It is a hard bump about the size of 1/2 pea. I have had it for about 1 1/2 weeks. At first I thought it might be an insect bite as it appeared after being in the grass, but I don''t think so now.
Do you have any ideas
Hello,

Thank you for your question,

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

In exactly which location on the lip?

Is there any discharge from it?

Is the skin intact?

Is it enlarging in size?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

It is right at the top of the left side lip. There is no discharge and is very hard and swells when I try to squeeze it or scratch it only. I can not get it to pop. There is no problem with skin around it unless I irritate it

Thank you Dee, for the information,

This can be an inflammation of hair follicle.

An inflamed small cyst is also possible.

In some cases, there can be an infection.

I would suggest not to squeeze it as it is still hard.

You can apply warm moist compress, OTC neosporin antibiotic cream can be used if the skin gets broken.

If the pain is much, you can take antiinflammatory analgesics like motrin or naproxen, if there is no other contraindication.

Sometimes oral antibiotics is needed.

If those measures do not help, I would suggest to get an examination by doctor.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Regards.

Can I use witch hazel patches down there?

As the area is soft & sensitive, I would suggest to avoid it.

Warm moist compress or sitz bath would be better.
