I have what seems like a cold the last 4 days. I had a stuffy/runny nose and at the start of the cold an extremely sore throat. I have been taking some head cold medicine and yesterday I had no symptoms. Today I wake up and my chest feels heavy and when I take a deep breath its like it takes more effort BC it feels like the flow has decreased. It also burns breathing in in my lungs and throat. When I take the deep breath there feels like a catch and then I start to cough. Not a lot just like something was blocking the way. When I cough its like a dry cough but kind of a barky cough. It also hurts my throat to cough. When I'm done with the breath at the end there is a whistling notice that I can feel.

Hello April,
I am Dr. Arun and will be helping you today.

What is your age?
Do you have breathlessness / shortness of breath, heartburn, fever, bodyache?
Any significant past medical history?
What are your present medications?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I am 33 years old. I don't have the feeling of being short of breath or any dizziness. Nothing significant on my past history and I'm on hrt due to hysterectomy for endometriosis.

Thanks April for the further information.

Your symptoms are suggestive of viral bronchitis. This is likely to resolve on its own, though an examination by a doctor today and a chest x-ray would be advised for the confirmation. Following also would be recommended for the nose blockage and sore throat;

1) Nasal steroid; decrease inflammation and open up obstruction.

2) Oral decongestants such as pseudoephedrine are often helpful.

3) Topical decongestant for short duration.

4) Antihistamines

5) Steam vaporizer

6) Eucalyptus oil may help

7) Nasal saline irrigation

8) Vitamin C

9) Rest

10) Warm saline gargles

Your doctor may also do a swab test if the sore throat is persisting and get some blood work like complete blood counts.

Please feel free for your follow up questions.

I would be happy to assist you further, if you need any more information.

Thanks for using Just Answer.

Would the noise/vibration I feel in my lungs after breathing in and out be wheezing?
