How old are you? For how long have you been doing this?
Have you got into trouble with the law or with your work because of alcohol?
Do you drink in the morning to clear your head?
since you are not in the chat I will attempt to answer the best I can
Type 2 diabetes is not well understood in terms of it's cause
HERE IS A GOOD REFERENCE FOR YOU
I am 22 years old.
how long have you been drining like this?
I have been doing this since i was 18.
never been introuble with the law
no I only drink on weekends
and when you drink do you drink till you pass out?
yeah, I go to sleep.
sleep is one thing... do you wake up on the floor or do you make it to bed?
Yeah I make it to bed
I dont pass out
just get drunk
so here's the answer
you are a binge drinker
so was I at your age
HERE IS A HELPFUL LINK FOR YOU
many young people can do this and then one day they settle down
but many also progress to increased drinking, more frequently, and with consequences
DUI, lost job, etc...
alcohol in excess, over time, can damage your liver
and cause CIRRHOSIS
and eventually end stage liver disease
not trying to scare you, but dying from liver failure is ugly and horrible
and happens to heavy drinkers after years of alcohol abuse
so you have a decision to make
there is little 'science' to alcohol use and abuse
some people drink like you do all their lives and have no problems
some die from their drinking
it's a very hard question to answer at age 22
What about after one year of drinking and passing out every weekend like on a friday for a year striagiht . can this cause damage? u said it can be overtime/
not passing out.. just getting very drunk
really this would happen only in people that had a liver disease apart from using alcohol.
so very unlikely with you
but your drinking could get you into trouble with relationships, job, the law
those would be the concerns at your age
I have severe depression, anixety and stress in my life.. even with this, it wont cause damage after one year?
no, not likely
are you getting help for your depression and anxiety?
there are much better medications than alcohol for this.
celexa, prozac, effexor, cymbalta, abilify.... a good psychiatrist or even a good primary care physician could help you with this
one of the things people don't realize about alcohol is that it makes your sleep very poor
not restful sleep
and this can worsen stress and depression
how do those medications make a person feel?
usually, over a week or two, the depression and anxiety lift and you feel better while you work on the underlying problems leading to the stress and depression
the medicines are not a cure
but a bridge to a better life
reference on depression
I am running out of time as I have an appointment
would you like to continue this later
or do you think we can finish now?
I think you have recognized a problem
and the next step is to seek help
from a physician, preferably a psychiatrist, but a primary care physician would also be a good place to start
What if I drink 3 -4 beers every weekend for the rest of my life. Just enough to get a buzz.. Will this cause any damage?
but that's hard to do
not for me
as I said, some people can do this
you may be one of them
though it is a risky business
and you should seek help for your underlying problems with depression and anxiety
so what is the difference between the people that drink alot and dont get any damage and the people that drink and do get damage? WHy do some people get messed up and some people dont?
we aren't sure
a lot of it has to do with sheer quantity and duration of use
time will tell
whats sheer quanttity and duraation of use mean?
u said used to binge drink also... How long did you do this for?
everyday or every weekend?
what does 4x week for weeks mean?
not for weeks
Whats more healthy do drink. 3 shots of hard liquor like vodka or 3 beers within an hour?
What puts lest strain on a persons body, 3 shots of vodka or 3 beers ? drinking all in an hour.
is getting drunk of 5 beers normal?
What if I drink them within an hour and throw up? is this normal?
Yeah, I threw up last time because I drank very fast.
Does beer damage the kidneys? the reason why I say this is because it makes people urinate a lot.
Do you want to continue this later?
This question is not related, but I hope you can answer it. Can severe stress, anxiety and depression cause type 2 diabetes in less than 10 years? or 5?
ok thank you.. If I have any follow up questions, I will message you.
