Im scared

Customer Question

Im scared
Submitted: 1 year ago.

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
If we're going to pick up here then you need to rate the other page.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I dont want a cysto
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
It may not take that to start with but you would at least need kidney studies and maybe a cystogram which is less than cystoscopy but this does need some sort of evaluation.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
They have to put a catheter in for that
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Where are we going with this? And don't just tell me you're scared. When you have a medical problem, either you agree to the workup or you don't
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I cant allow people put things in me like my dad did. Im sorru
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
That's OK but there isn't anywhere more to go with this.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
But your mad at me. What else would a urologist do
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Why--and you're always wrong about it--do you think I'm mad at you. If not a urologist then a nephrologist but an intravenous IVP and maybe a ct scan if you hadn't had one so recently would be other studies
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Its just a uti with blood. No big deal
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Btw im just a little bit drunk
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Maybe so with the UTI. You shouldn't drink on the lorazepam
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Too late.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
How much have you had to drink?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
3 or 4 drinks. I know i shouldnt with my gi issues. My momfigure told me it would make me feel better
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
I don't think she has much clinical expertise but oh, well. Alcohol definitely would only worsen your stomach issues
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This is what my urine looks like

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
You're calling that a lot of blood?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No thats the littler amount. Last night and earlier it was a lot more and darker. I know what a lot it
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Well, again, it only takes a few drops of actual blood to turn the whole toilet bowl red so maybe it isn't as much as you think
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
So no urologists
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
I didn't say that--gross hematuria--if that's what this is--needs evaluation
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
If it isnt that what else could it be
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
I can't be sure just looking at photos. I'd need to know what the microscopic looked like. Potentially it could be just from something you ate
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This is not from
Something i ate

http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/Kate_Miller2007/media/image_zps9d08969d.jpg.html
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Agreed. But why are we dwelling on this?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Because im scared. I dont want to see a urologist. I dont want anything put in me. I want it to go away
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
But just talking more about it isn't going to help one bit
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Have you ever had a cysto done? Will they do it under anesthesia if i ask them?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
No and yes
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Then how do you know it doesnt hurt? Do you think i could handle it being done while awake?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Because I've done the procedure on awake men. With your anxiety and other things, I can't be sure
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Have you done it on women?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
No but actually it would be easily and less "invasive" than with men
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
How come?
Do you think theyll do one? Be honest
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Your urthra is only a quarter of an inch long at best--a man's is at least four inches. I can't be sure, but it's pretty standard as part of the workup for gross hematuria
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Will it go away if i ignore it?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
The fact that you had gross hematuria won't go away, no. Sorry for saying it like this, but you're acting like a child asking her mother to kiss the boo boo and make it go away.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
You are an inconsiderate ass
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
No, just trying to keep this an adult conversation and it doesn't do you any favors if I tell you just to ignore it. Plus the fact you're a bit drunk doesn't help
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Excuse me for being scared ok. I have a bad past
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
I know but seriously--discussing this any more right now is just rubbing salt into an open wound. Let's take a break for tonight and get back to me tomorrow after you talk to your doctor about this.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Our urologists are booked out foratleast 2 montha.

Im afraid to go to sleep. Im afraid ill puke and aspirate it
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Then stay up in a chair. I have to go for now--talk to you tomorrow
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Imsorry
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Get back to me in three hours
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Nurse practicioner thinks its just another UTI
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Did she at least do a microscopic urinalysis?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ya shes waiting for it to come back
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Did she decide to switch antibiotics?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
30-50 rbc on microscopic. Putting me on cipro
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Well, if that clears this and the symptoms, then it is most likely just a tough UTI
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
She said its not a uti. No nitrates
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
So no WBC's or bacteria on the microscopic? And you first said she thought it was just another UTI?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That what she said. She said shes still going to rx me cipro. Had 5-9 wbc on microscopic. No bacteria
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
OK
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
So what does that mean?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Doesn't sound like a uti--too many red cells and you had gross hematuria. I think the doctor and not the NP should evaluate this.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My dr gonetoday. Ct neg for kidney stones
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
I really don't have anything more I can add about this right now
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
So what should i do. It hurts to pee
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Ask for some pyridium for that
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thats not
Going to help with the blood
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Of course not--just with the pain but seriously there isn't anything more to be said about this right now
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Im going to talk to my uncle and see what he says
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
OK
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Do you think i shoukd just ask for a referral to urology
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Yes
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My uncle says its just a uti
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Whatever--listen, let's change the subject because we can't get any further with this one
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Fine. Im suppose to do the stupid breathing class tomorrow at mayo
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
OK--don't see the need for that, but, again, whatever
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Are you kinda crappy at me today
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Not at all but we spent two pages on the urine thing and now all you do is tell me about this upcoming test--the conversation is dragging
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Well then dont talk to me
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
And last night the only reason i kept talking about it was because i was drunk
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Maybe so but you still did it a lot today. Just come back when you have something substantial to talk about
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
You are so bossy
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
I don't see how--just saying let's not chat and have a decent productive conversation
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Fine
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
By the way--my opting out was only because the system was blocking any response I made
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ivw never hurt this much before
