I am 25 years old. It seems like every one gets ringing in there ear for second random and it goes way right away. I was just wondering what sets it off
Expert:  Dr. Anil Kumar replied 1 year ago.

Hello,

Tinnitus(ringing in ear) can be caused due to following factors which include -

Upper respiratory tract infection.

Eustachian tube blockage

Ear infection

Hypertension
Old Age (advancing age is accompanied by a certain amount of auditory nerve impairment and tinnitus)
Otosclerosis (stiffening of the middle ear bones)
Allergies
Thyroid problems
Certain foods such as soy, wheat, chocolate and red wine
Anemia

Well there are many causes of tinnitus(ringing in ears) but sometimes no cause can be found too after all investigations.
This can be due to age related hearing loss called presbycusis.
This can be related to anxiety , tension & depresssion also.
ENT specialist can be helpful in treatment of tinnitus.

Treatment may include
Tinnitus maskers similar to hearing aids, producing a continuous, low-level white noise that suppresses tinnitus symptoms.
Doctor may prescribe antidepressant medications,Flunarizine, Niacine, Amitryptilline and Acamprosate (Campral).
Try sleeping with your head propped up in an elevated position which lessens head congestion and noises may become less noticeable.
Take OTC Decongestant or Antihistamine tablets.
Try Valsalva manoeuvre.
Avoid alcohol, smoking , caffeine.
Do meditation and deep breathing exercises.
Avoid loud noise as well.

I hope this helps.

If you have any further query then feel free to ask.

Positive feedback and bonus are highly appreciated.

I only get tinnitus when I am near old TV set, flat screen Tv's I don't get it at all

How come ears ring when people go near old tv and not flat screen tv
Expert:  Dr. Anil Kumar replied 1 year ago.
Hello,
In such cases, tinnitus can be caused due to a specific frequency of noise from old TV.
If you have such tinnitus only in certain conditions then it's not so worrisome.
As technology has improved so frequency of sound may change from TV to TV.

I hope this helps.

If you have any further query then feel free to ask.

Positive feedback and bonus are highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi I am asking this question behalf of my grandma. She wants to know why doctors cant call in antibiotics why do they have to see the person in the office
Expert:  Dr. Anil Kumar replied 1 year ago.
Hello,
Antibiotics are prescribed by a doctor in person after undergoing a complete clinical examination and determine the underlying cause.
Many common infections are caused by germs called viruses.
Antibiotic medicines do not kill viruses.
Also, many infections caused by germs called bacteria do not need antibiotics. This is why antibiotics are not prescribed for many infections.
Antibiotics can be lifesavers, but misuse has increased the number of drug-resistant germs.

There are different types of antibiotic and which antibiotic works for a particular strain causing infection and how much dose is required are usually decided after seeing a patient in person.
Online and on call prescription can be dangerous and it can result in wrong antibiotic,Antibiotic resistance( when antibiotics no longer work against disease-causing bacteria).
These infections are difficult to treat and can mean longer lasting illnesses.

I hope this helps.
If you have any further query then feel free to ask.
Positive feedback and bonus are highly appreciated.
Thank you.
