hello !
i am a 39 year old male in a long distance relationship with a woman. we are sexually active when we can be together and monogamous. the last time i saw her she contracted gardnerella. she was treated and has had no further occurances. this was in march of this year. she is coming to visit soon and i am wondering if i should get tested to make sure that i don't have this or am not still carrying it. thanks for any information you can provide.

Thank you for your question,

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

Do you have any symptom?

When did the infection occur?

Did she have any test thereafter?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

no i don't have any symptoms.

the infection occured in march of 2013.

no she was not tested thereafter but has had no symptoms.

is this an infection that live in a male body?

Thank you for the information.

Gardenella infection is quite common in women.

It can occur in men, in some cases.

But the incidence is not clearly known.

There are much variation in the results.

You can read this link on it.

When you do not have any symptom, it may be that you are not having the infection.

But as it may remain asymptomatic, you can have an urethral swab test to be certain.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Best wishes.
