Can i ask them to use lower dose of the medications

Customer Question

Can i ask them to use lower dose of the medications
Submitted: 9 months ago.
Category: Health
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Sure--just remind them that they had a hard time waking you up the last time.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
They wont get mad at me?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
No and they should be reminded of what happened before
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Will do. I think the reason they gave me so much last time is because the dr said im a red head and they require higher doseage of meds
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Have absolutely no idea where he came up with that.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I dont know either. But i will talk to them and remind them
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
There is some indication that some redheads may require more anesthesia but you don't just up the dose at first because it's a redhead
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Sorry
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
No problem
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
But you agree with me that it was too much medication
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Yes--way too much
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Why do they give benadryl
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
No idea really--unnecessary with the others.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I dont like the way they medicate me. When i have scopes by my regular gi dr i never have problems waking up
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
So tell them--no problem with doing that.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Do i say anything to the girls
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Come again?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Do i tell my sisters that the dr thinks i have a tumor
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
That's up to you. If you think they'd want to know then yes.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
But you dont think i have a tumor. So do i want to worry them needlesly
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Not for now, no.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Whats the typical dosing for sedation?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
I already told you what I'd use.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
What is typical dose? Not what you woukd do. I am so nervous
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
1 to 2 mg of versed and 50 mgms of fentanyl like I told you
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Thanks
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
OK--anything else?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Ill let you know how things go tomorrow. I am nervous
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
You'll be fine--get back to me then
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Marty is the most uncompassionate person i know
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
What now?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Hes the only one that could bring me. And hes being a dick cuz i wont stop at a liquor store
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
He's an alcoholic--what do you expect?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I didnt expect him to be a total ass. Especially since at supper he had 32 oz of beer. And the best part is he has no money and expects me to give him money
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
We've been over this before--he's a moocher and from what you've told me totally irresponsible and if you ask me, I'd consider your favorite word--loser--when referring to him
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Hes just pissing me off
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
So work on getting him out of your life
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Well he was the only one who could come to rochester with me
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
You know what I meant
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Night
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Nite
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Just had a dream that I died. I dont want to get scoped
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
I've had a dream or two like that in my life and I'm still here--just get it over with so you can move on
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Wow. Once again you are just so compassionate
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
What's compassion got to do with it? Just saying that a dream doesn't portend anything and you only have today to go through and it's over.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
They gave me profolol. Bad deal. I was crawling out of bed and i fell and was hyperventilating.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Did they get the test done?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Ya theu had to keep increasing the dose abd they had to move tge bp cuff. They wont out i have more ulcers than last time but didnt see and tumors. They want to see me back in 3 months for repeat gastrin.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
What was that about the ulcers?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
They did an egd today too. And i had more ulcers on tidays scope than i had on the scope on thd 20th of june
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
OK--so what's the plan as far as medications from this point on?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Aciphex 20 mg once a day. Ranitidine 300 mg bid and amitryptlin 25 mg once daily
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
OK. So did the doctor say he didn't think there's any tumor and you can put that behind you?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No he didnt say that. He said so far theyve been unable to find one
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
So what did he say about that--that he still thinks there is a tumor?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Yes. He also said my next gastrin test hes going to do it while im on the meds
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
OK. But if he thinks there's still a tumor what--just wait and see?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Just wait abd see if my gastrin level is more elevated in 3 months
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Well, I'm sure that doesn't help much with your worrying.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No it doesnt. My uncle suggested a gastrin secretin test but i cant do that since i have an allergy to amoxicillin
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
That might only give more evidence for a tumor but wouldn't localize it
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Thats fine but if it was normal then i more than likely dont have a tumor
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
True but if you knew all that I didn't need to tell you
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
My gi dr back home doesnt think i have a tumor.

If im on my meds for the next gastrin test cant thay falsely elevate it
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
If they lowered your stomach acid too much yes but you were off them when the test was done before
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I know i was off them before. I just dont know how he can compare the two
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
I'm not sure either but you could always ask him
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I just want all this to be done with
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Do you think propofol was the right med to use?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Yes--fast acting and fast to leave the body
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
But ive never been like that. They had to give me versed to calm me down.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
But ok
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I dont feel well
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
How so?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
My throat hurts and im pretty sure i got a fever
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Not unusual to have a sore throat after a procedure like that.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I dont remember having a sore throat.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Just making a statement and you might be getting the flu, but we're starting to chat here
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Im sorry but i just dont feel good
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
I understand but again you know I can't do anything about that and this doesn't sound like anything serious
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
And i think im dehydrated and my stomach hurts
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Still nothing new I can say about that--not that I don't care but we need to talk about something other than your medical condition for now
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Like what. And im vomitting
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
I don't know if you don't have anything else to discuss but there's no use telling me about vomiting and pain and possible fever since you know what I'd have to say about that
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I want you to tell me its not related to the scope
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Probably not but I can't say for sure
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Should i wait and see how i feel in the am
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
For now, yes unless you get really--and I mean really-severe chest or abdominal pain
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Why
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Could mean an esophageal or gastric perforation--both would be highly unlikely after that kind of procedure but they're possibilities
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Idk if we need to close this page or not but nite
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
It would help to close this page and start a new one when you need to. Nite
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
It hurts to breathe
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
OK--you've forced my hand here--that one symptom following a procedure like that absolutely means getting to the ER immediately, no questions asked. So let's close the page and I hope you take me very seriously here, but there's no need for any further discussion
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Why?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
Oh, come off it. It could mean--like I said above--an esophageal perforation and it could possibly mean a pulmonary embolus from being under anesthesia today. Seriously--don't waste space and time by coming back here to ask more questions--get to the ER
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
You dont have to be mean
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
I'm not being mean and you were wasting time asking me more questions--just because somebody has to be forceful and direct with you doesn't mean they're being mean. Now stop wasting time and get to the ER and if you come back on this page, I'll have to opt out.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Will uyou please look at my new question
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 9 months ago.
I have but please close this one with a rating
