I started back on the bcp 2 months ago after being off of it

This answer was rated:

I started back on the bcp 2 months ago after being off of it for about 4 years. Yesterday afternoon I had severe/sudden pain in my right elbow - felt like a strained muscle or bruised joint. By nighttime it was so sore I couldn't bend or straighten fully. I woke up this morning with no pain there at all - but now have similar "muscle/bruised" pain in my left thigh. Is it possible that this is a blood clot? Would a clot travel from right elbow to left thigh like this?

Dr. Saha :

Hello,

Dr. Saha :

Thank you for your question,

Dr. Saha :

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

Dr. Saha :

Where do you feel the pain in the thigh?

Customer: On my outter thigh - along my quad muscle
Dr. Saha :

Did you have any unusual activity? exercise?

Dr. Saha :

Are you there?

Dr. Saha :

Do you have any swelling, redness?

Customer: Not unusual - I had a Pilates class yesterday, but do those 2 times a week. I did recently (end of March) dislocate my left knee cal and have torn cartilage, etc... Waiting to be cleaned up arthroscopically next month.
Customer: No swelling or redness - just deep pain
Dr. Saha :

Clot will not travel from elbow to thigh.

Dr. Saha :

Clot from limbs will go to heart, then lungs.

Dr. Saha :

This is unlikely to be from clot.

Dr. Saha :

Muscle/ joint pain can occur here.

Dr. Saha :

Please give rest to it.

Dr. Saha :

You can take tylenol for pain.

Dr. Saha :

If the pain persists or if you develop any swelling, redness, tenderness please get it checked by doctor

Customer: Ok perfect - that's what I thought but wanted to make sure! Thank you!!!
Dr. Saha :

You are always welcome.
