my 16 year old sons stays awake till 7 oclock in the morning

my 16 year old sons stays awake till 7 oclock in the morning and then sleeps for 8 hours and then as another 2 hours and i dont know why could he be short of iron in is blood


Associated fatigue,lethargy,poor concentration?

Duration of symptoms?

Any other medical illness?

Stress and anxiety issues?

Have you seen him to a doctor so far?

Is he taking any medicines?

Late night work and eating?

he does not work i have not been to the doctors with him hes not taking any medicines he just seems to be tired all the time and i dont know why

As per your description,his daytime sleepiness,fatigue,lethargy shouldn't be ignored and it's good to see your family doctor for a clinical examination and undergo further blood work like CBC,ESR,Thyroid function test,Vitamin D,Serum Electrolyte,Serum calcium for further evaluation.

Possible differential diagnosis may include Anemia,Thyroid dysfunction,Hypercalcaemia,hyponatraemia,Narcolepsy,altered cicardian rhythm,increased stress,atypical depression and sleep deprivation/lack of deep sleep apart from sleep apnea syndrome.

I understand your concern regarding your son and it's strongly advised to evaluate his symptoms to get proper treatment.

If leave them untreated then it can get chronic or worse over the time.
