My 12 year old son seems to be getting several skin tag in his chest. Moles, freckles, and skin tags run in my family. He has those too. Is this a normal thing for a young thin healthy boy or can this be bad?
Hello,

Thank you for your question,

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

How many are there?

Is there any recent change in them?

Does he have any other symptom?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I would say maybe a dozen or less. There are a few with like two side by side. No other symptoms and they are flesh color
Thank you for the information,

Skin tags are common.

They are harmless & their number varies among individuals.

There is a hereditary predisposition to it.

Moles are also common & can be present without any ill effect.

But if you notice any change in it you should get it checked by doctor.

Some points to remember about a mole.

If the moles itch, it is a matter of concern.

If the size of the mole is 6 mm or more

The surface and border of the mole are irregular

If the mole starts to increase in size

If there is multiple color in a single mole.

If any of these change is seen then I would suggest to get him an examination by doctor.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Regards.
