If the doctor writes a prescription for aminophylline 125 mg

This answer was rated:

If the doctor writes a prescription for aminophylline 125 mg po qid x 10 days, and you only stock the 250 mg/5 ml strength, how many tsp would be needed for one dose and how many mls would be needed to fill the entire prescription?
How do you solve this in detail and get the answers needed?
Thank you

Thank you for your question,

250 mg /2 = 125 mg or 5 ml/2 or 2.5 ml = 1/2 tsp.

2.5 ml = 1/2 tsp will be required for each dose.

1/2 tsp x 4 or qid = 2 tsp or 10 ml per day.

10 ml x 10 days = 100 ml.

So 100 ml will be required for 10 days.

I hope this information helps.

Best wishes.
