Late period, negative test. Missed one birth control pill this

Resolved Question:

Late period, negative test. Missed one birth control pill this month.Cyst in right ovary. Lower back & abdomen (left side) pain. Heaviness in lower abdomen-worsens by day end and night. If I lift heavy stuff or strain my tummy-pain worsens. Pain spreads from lower left abdomen to whole abdomen-navel hurts too. Diagnosed with Vit D deficiency-weakness in legs, feeling of head spinning;stomach disorder since 2 months-bloating+constipation. Ultrasound of abdomen clear. What can it be? My GP laughs it off as stress and over concerns. Pain present since last 19 days.

Hello,

Thank you for your question,

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

When did you have last period?

When did you visit doctor last?

Did you have any other test besides ultrasound, pregnancy test?

How is urine?

Do you pass stool every day? How is constipation now?

Did doctor prescribe any medicine?

Hello Dr Saha,

My last period was on the 17th May.

I visited my GP on the 6th June.

So far only pregnancy test- took yesterday. Ultrasound, urine test was on 4th June. Urine test was fine.

Yes my bowel movement is daily, have been constipated since long, but since yesterday loose stools- soft but not well formed.

My doctor prescribed Vit D 2000 IU daily for next 4 months.

Thank you.

I also did a blood test on the 4th June. All is in good shape- HB 13.5. Bad cholesterol is a bit high - for that I'm walking daily.

Thank you for the information,

Pregnancy test usually gets positive soon after missed period.

Sometimes it can be positive earlier too.

As you took it yesterday & it was negative, pregnancy is unlikely.

Rupture or leaking of ovarian cyst can cause pain in abdomen.

But as your cyst is on right side the pain would start on that side.

So it is unlikely too as most of the pain is on left side.

The pain at lower left side of abdomen can be due to a few other causes.

Urinary infection or stone is a common cause but your urine test was normal.

Inflammation of colon or colitis can also cause pain here.

This can cause loose stool.

Constipation, gas can also be factors.

Sometimes, it can be due to irritable bowel or IBS.

Anxiety, stress can precipitate it.

Please try to take plenty of fluid.

Take fresh fruits, vegetables too. Those would help to have regular bowel movement & relieve symptoms.

However, if the pain continues or gets intense, I would advise to get a review by your doctor.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Regards..
