hello, I just went to the doctor today about an itching

This answer was rated:

hello,

I just went to the doctor today about an itching crawling, feeling on my face and neck. I also get this feeling on my hands and arms as well. After looking at what I thought were pimples on my side, he said it was probably folliculitis.

However, I just discovered two tiny dot like bugs crawling on my forearm. So I did some research and found it could be scabies. Also there's some pimple like bumps on both my armpits which are very dry and irritating. Could this be misdiagnosed?

Also, I managed to capture one of the bugs with a piece of tape. Should I go back with this? This is very worrisome and the crawling feeling is driving me nuts.

Thank you

Hello,

Dr. Saha :

Thank you for your question,

Dr. Saha :

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

Dr. Saha :

How large are the bugs?

Dr. Saha :

Scabies mite is very small.

Dr. Saha :

Female mite is about 0.3-0.4 mm in length.

Dr. Saha :

The male one is half of that.

Dr. Saha :

If the bug is not that small, it may not be scabies.

Dr. Saha :

Still you can take it to doctor.

Dr. Saha :

Doctor can examine it.

Dr. Saha :

Scabies typically cause burrows.

Dr. Saha :

There can be pustules or secondary infection too.

Dr. Saha :

So you can continue the medicines prescribed by doctor, meanwhile.

The bug is just barely visible. It less than a millimeter.

Also, I do have a raised, hard bump on my belt line that's been there for a month or so that has been receding. It's sore and looks like a blood blister.

Hello Keith,

Thank you for the follow up.

If the bug is less than a mm & barely visible, then there is a possibility.

There can be allergic papule formation from scabies which can feel like bump.

Doctor can examine the bug under microscope to confirm its nature
