I have had a headache that is centered in my left temple for 4 days. It really hurts. I've taken ibuprofen and it seems to help slightly, but the pain is still there. Every now and then it feels like I get a little dizzy and then it goes away. What could be causing this?

Dr. Saha :

Customer:

I am not subject to headaches

Customer:

and I don't have other symptoms--just occasional feeling of dizziness

Customer:

it feels better if I press on the spot where it hurts

Customer:

it feels like it's throbbing

Dr. Saha :

Migraine headaches can occur on one side.

Dr. Saha :

Temporal arteritis, cluster headaches can cause severe pain there.

Dr. Saha :

But in temporal arteritis there is tenderness on pressure.

Dr. Saha :

You are not having such.

Dr. Saha :

Stress, anxiety can be factors.

Dr. Saha :

How is your blood pressure?

Customer:

haven't checked it recently, but never had a problem w it before

Dr. Saha :

Sometimes other brain conditions like aneurysm, bleed, tumors etc. can cause headache there. As the pain is intense & you are not feeling much relief, I would suggest to take an examination by doctor.

Dr. Saha :

Blood pressure needs to be checked again.

Customer:

is it ok to wait a day or two and see if it goes away?

Dr. Saha :

If you feel it is subsiding then you can wait. But if the intensity does not decrease I feel you should take an examination early.

Dr. Saha :

You are also feeling dizziness with it.

Customer:

ok, thank you
