I worked out yesterday and nothing unusual happened, but I woke up during the night with intense knee pain. It's been throbbing all day but advil and ice have helped. The pain is on the top of my knee and towards the inside. I'm also experiencing twitching in my quad and my foot feels cold and tingly. What could it be and how should I treat it?

Dr. Saha :

Hello,

Dr. Saha :

Thank you for your question, I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

Dr. Saha :

Is there any swelling?

Customer:

A little bit

Dr. Saha :

Where do you notice the swelling exactly?

Customer:

On the upper part of my knee mainly more on towards the medial side

Dr. Saha :

Is there any redness? rise of temperature?

Customer:

no

Dr. Saha :

How is the color of the foot?

Customer:

normal

Dr. Saha :

There can be a few probable causes.

Dr. Saha :

There can be an injury to knee or its cartilage causing inflammation.

Dr. Saha :

An inflammation of bursa is also possible.

Dr. Saha :

The twitching of the quad or the feeling in the foot can be related to nerve like an impingement.

Dr. Saha :

On the medial inside of the knee, you need to check for any clot there too.

Dr. Saha :

I would suggest to take an examination by doctor.

Customer:

ok

Dr. Saha :

Meanwhile please keep the knee at rest.

Dr. Saha :

You can continue advil.

Customer:

I'm a personal trainer so my job is very active, should I be going to work tomorrow? Or should I just go to the doctor and rest it?

Dr. Saha :

I would advise to give rest & not to go to work.

Customer:

ok. That sucks :( but it's what I thought

Dr. Saha :
My goal is to provide you with excellent service today.
Dr. Saha :

If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know

Customer:
