I've had an MRI and CT Scan and found I have cervical spinal stenosis with edema of the spinal cord. I've been told I need surgery as soon as possible. How serious is this and can the surgery wait 6 weeks?

Thanks for your question.
What symptoms do you have currently and how long you have the symptoms?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Mostly balance problems, hyperreflexia, gait problems. No pain.
Since how long you have these symptoms and are they worsening?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I've had them about 5 years and they've gotten worse in the last year
Thanks for your replies.
Your symptoms are concerning.
They suggest you have severe narrowing of the spinal canal and edema or swelling is also contributing to your problem.
You have developed cervical myelopathy meaning nerves are gradually 'dying' affecting the muscles.
In this case, surgery at the earliest is the best option given your worsening long standing symptoms.
The chances of recovery is greatest with early surgical interventions.

Please follow your surgeon's recommendations.
