I have been diagnoised with sleep apnea. They said I stopped

This answer was rated:

I have been diagnoised with sleep apnea. They said I stopped breathing 40 times in a 60 minute time frame. What are my choices to deal with this naturally other than chemical or surgery.

Thank you
There are a number of different types of sleep apnea, obstructive sleep apnea is the most typical.

Obstructive sleep apnea is most often (but not always) seen in individuals who are overweight or obese. Long-term, weight reduction often offers significant benefit. Many patients do require CPAP - a machine that keeps the airway from closing while sleeping. Most patients find that they feel MUCH better with this simple non-medicinal treatment.

Is there another solution other than a CPAP machine. I have seen them and they don't look comfotable to sleep with.

By the way I am not obese.

Thank you

There are oral appliances (mouthpieces) that MAY help, but the evidence for effectiveness of these is less than CPAP.

In some patients, surgery is an option - however I would strongly suggest trying CPAP before considering any surgical approach.
