A few days ago I started to experience a wind type sound in my left ear. Almost sounds like when you listen into a shell from the sea. When my head is completely turned to the left even with my shoulder I do not hear this but when its forward it's slightly there and then if I tilt it down, up or to the right the sound is more presence and constant witha slight tightness/pressure. What could this possibly be and is it something I need to go directly to a ENT for or will a regular doctor be able to treat? I'm without insurance so trying to plan.

DR HASAN :

DR HASAN :

The sound which you are hearing is called tinnitus.

DR HASAN :

This is only symptom and cause behind this needs to be assessed.

DR HASAN :

The cause can be in ear or can be in neck or brain.

DR HASAN :

As per symptoms your cause seems to be in your cervical spine.

DR HASAN :

The blood vessels supplying the ear passes through neck.

DR HASAN :

On change of neck posture, the severity of your tinnitus increases, this means that your likely cause is in neck.

DR HASAN :

Yes you need to go to ENT and that too at the earliest to avoid any damage.

Customer: Is this something that is treatable?
DR HASAN :

You need to get Xrays and/or MRI of cervical spine.

DR HASAN :

And hearing tests.

DR HASAN :

Yes this is treatable.

DR HASAN :

You will require treatment according to the cause.

DR HASAN :

DR HASAN :

Customer: What causes this?
DR HASAN :

But for sure you need ENT straight away because regular doctor will not be able to provide help.

DR HASAN :

There are many causes. If it is due to neck then some diseases of spine like disc problems can cause this.

DR HASAN :

In ear some viral infection can cause this.

DR HASAN :

and sometime no cause is found.

Customer: Ok so ENT for the type of doctor
