There can be an inflammation of the joint of ankle.
There can be a few reasons for the inflammation.
Gout can cause it.
Sometimes there can be inflammation of bursa.
Other possibilities are muscle spasm, clot.
In diarrhea there can be loss of fluid & electrolytes which can cause muscle cramps.
She can take antiinflammatory analgesics like motrin or naproxen, if there is no other contraindication.
Please give it after some food.
In severe pain there can be nausea.
But with chill & diarrhea, there can be an infection too.
She needs to drink plenty of fluid.
Oral rehydration solution, gatorade would help to prevent dehydration.
If the symptoms continue, I would advise to take an examination by doctor & have tests.
