I called my friend last night and she came over

Customer Question

I called my friend last night and she came over
Submitted: 2 years ago.
Category: Health
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Great--a major move for you
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It kinda was. But i didnt know what else to do
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
So tell me a little of what you two talked about. Was this the friend you had lunch with yesterday?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No this was a different friend. This friend knows a lot of my past. We talked about both my real mom and my mom figure and we talked about marty
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Fantastic--really great. At least did it help some to share that with someone who cares about you?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
I nearly fell of my chair when you told me this--it was a major step forward for you to have called her and to have asked her to come over
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I think you are being overdramatic
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Not at all--maybe with the falling off the chair part, but I have been trying to get you to this point for months
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Well last night you told me not to let you down. That was the only thing i could do to avoid letting you down
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
And it was exactly the right thing for you to do. I know you're crabby and having a lack of sleep issue, but did this at least show you that sharing and companionship does help defuse the bad feelings?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes it did
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
And there was a time when you really didn't think I knew what I was talking about
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes you are correct.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Well, after taking that first step--that plunge, if you will, it gets easier
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I believe you.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Good. Maybe it'll help with your therapy sessions, too
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Maybe. Do you think if i physically felt better id be less depressed
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Sure. Nobody can withstand the predictable depression that comes with chronic pain and feeling physically bad
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
And you dont think its all in my head
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Not at all but as I said before--it's kind of a vicious cycle. Pain and illness leads to depression and depression can make pain feel worse. The example I give my patients is when a mother with a bad back--chronic severe back pain--sees her two year old heading out onto the road with an oncoming semi heading for him, she runs to him and grabs him and pulls him out of harm's way, and, at least for that period of time, she is totally unaware of her back pain
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
How do i gain weight but not fat
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Well, muscle is denser than fat so doing toning exercises--anaerobic muscle building exercises--actually allows you to gain weight but getting slimmer
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
What kinda of things do i have to eat
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Gave you the best diet before--nutrient dense--fresh veggies and fruits, coconut milk, tofu or tempeh, and no more than three servings per week of lean meat, fish, or poultry
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Can i nap today
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Sure but don't overdo it--an hour at the most
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Do you get sick of my dumb questions?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
No
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Do you think im fat
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Fat isn't a medical term and again, I'd need your present height and weight to give you an opinion on any amount of weight I thought you should try to lose
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
67.25. 131.3
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
OK. Not even medically obese. Health-wise, your weight should be about 125
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
So im like 6 pounds too fat
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Don't use the word fat--that's your perception. You're just a little over your ideal weight
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
If you say so
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
I do.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Why do you worry about people on here
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Why shouldn't I?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ill just drop the subject. I think weve bern over it enough
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
True
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
What can i do for my stomach
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
I don't have any new ideas to give you--sorry
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Its ok. Do you think it could br an ulcer
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Remind me--when were you last scoped?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
February
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Then yes it could be an ulcer
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ive been avoiding nsaids
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Just saying it could be an ulcer and remember your uncle thought you needed rescoping
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Anything else for now?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Do you have any suggestions of things i can eat that wont hurt my stomach
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Trial and error, really. For now, nothing fatty or spicy, no dairy, nothing citric like oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok. I know you hate when i ask medical
Questions like that. So thanks for answering
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
No problem with the medical but sometimes I just don't have anything to add
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Why do you suppose the dr who gave me the restoril didnt tell me that it can be
Addicting. And whybwould he give me enough fir 90 days
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
We are supposed to tell you about all the potential side effects of any drug and in the cases of something like this, we're supposed to tell you about the addictive properties and the withdrawal problems. And in general, no controlled substance should be written for more than one month at a time. He dropped the ball there
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Just so you know i would have been more than happy with ambien then the temazepam.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Same thing on Ambien though--shouldn't be used long term
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I dont like the idea of having to wean off of things
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
You don't have to wean off things if you don't use them too much
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I know
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
OK
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I suppose thats all for now
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Later then
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
My mom figure is insane. She is worse than my real mom
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Something just happen?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I went to town to pick the girls up cuz he roads suck. And my mom texted me to see where i was going. I texte her back and told her. She told me to let them drive and let them get in an accident cuz that will teach them a lesson
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
You're right--she's got major problems
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
The girls have done nothing to make her resent them like she does
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
You have to realize that she suffers somewhat from the same problems you do. Don't know much about her but when someone lashes out like that it's a way of redirecting the anger they feel towards themselves and from unresolved resentments. Not trying to justify her behavior but it really isn't caused by you or the teens
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It just frustrates me. Thats all
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
I know.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Do you think ive come a long way since we first started talking
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Definitely--don't you?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Maybe
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
I knew full well you wouldn't give me a definite yes but I had to ask anyway
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
You just know me all to well
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Yes I do
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
How long do you think ill have a sinus headache
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
How do you know it's a sinus headache?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I assume its sinus related since i have pressure in my head. And my sinuses hurt to touch
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Well, without antibiotics, this usually resolves in a week or so
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Im on an antibiotic
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
May still take a few days
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Since i am a worrier i worry about cdiff
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Not likely but always a concern with multiple antibiotics
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Even though in the last month and a half ive been on augmentin this is round #3, azithromycin, and flagyl
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Well, nothing more to say--not that many people get C diff even with that many antibiotics
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
K good
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Anything else for now?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Do i need to close this page?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Not for now but until you have something really important to discuss just cool out for the time being
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
If i drink some viscous lidocane junk will it help my tummy
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Worth a try--if it does it has to be reflux
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
How much iron should i be taking
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
What are you taking now?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Its ferrous sulfate 65 mg
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
That's the usual once a day dose
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Alright
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Only a really important question for this page next time
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Do i tell my therapist about the stong urges to take the pills? What else do i need to work on with my therapist
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
He already knows, doesn't he? If not, yes, of course. Next time you need to go over calling and talking to your friend, you're need to deal with you mother, and how you think you let the teens down
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
He knows that ive been thinking about it. He doesnt know that i have a plan. As for the teens, i was 22 when i got custody of them. What judge in their right mind would give 2 teenagers to a 23 year old
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Obviously he thought you were best for them and I think he was right.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I dont know ifvi was the best thing for them. Why do you think i mainly thonk about taking pills at night
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Depression is always worse at night and loneliness can set in
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I didnt know that
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Just a fact
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
How come
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Just the circadian rhythm coupled by the fact that most of us are less active at night, especially in bed at night. And we're starting to chat
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Sorry.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
OK--but again the page is getting very long
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
So to recap, When i think about doing something stupid i call a friend. Have you ever thought of doing it? Do you think it makes me weak for trying it
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Yes to calling a friend. I have had the thoughts before but never considered acting on them. No--not weak but you just need to consider it a bad idea. Time to close the page--OK?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
One more question. I read its impossible to od on benzos. Is this true
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Absolutely not true but please no more references to OD things
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok. But you wont tell me how much
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
No and you know better than to ask--you're breaking your promise here
