First of all i am sorry to hear about your problem.
I am going to address your primary concern but later you can ask anything you want.
Yes there are few things you can try yourself.
Rest the knee. Try not to put excessive weight on it.
apply heat pad over the affected area.
In such situations over the counter tab advil thrice daily is helpful.
If this doesn't help then the stronger choice available over the counter is tab aleve twice daily.
Massage the knee with over the counter Voltaren gel thrice daily.
Wear knee pad, you can get it from pharmacy.
I wish you good luck that you get well soon, please ask if you have any question because our discussion always remains open so you can always ask more and I will be glad to assist you. Your excellent feedback is requested and will be appreciated, regards.
Voltaren gel? do we get that in wallgreens? or is there any equivalent that i can get in USA
Thanks for getting back to me.
Yes you can get it in USA without any prescription.
If your symptoms persist, see your doctor.
By the way, since how long exactly you have this swelling?
What about cold patch. ?
should i alternate between hot and cold
Is there any associated calf swelling?
or just hot?
for that i need to know that since how long exactly you have this?
the knee pain , i have had it for about 6-8 months..but with the change of shoes it became worse since the past week
oh i am sorry to hear about this.
Cold patches are good in recent swellings and pain.
As you have the pain for quite sometime, just heat pads are best.
Cold patches are not good for this swelling.
but severe pain is only from 3-4 days..sever pain and swelling
Even then try hot patch.
ok. I will try massage and then apply hot patch
See your doctor too when possible because you may need xrays.
will that give me relief
should that be good?
And tab advil too
No tylenol is not strong enough.
You should try advil thrice daily or aleve twice daily.
I will try that. thank you for your advice
