foot feels bruised on the side and shows redness. It is extremely painful to stand or walk (hobble). It is worse today than yesterday. Is it related to my peripheral nueropathy ?

Dr Brims :

Hello, welcome to Justanswer, I will try to assist you with your medical question, and any medical information you seek

Dr Brims :

Do you have any medical conditions or take any medication?

Customer:

I have neuropathy and take Lyrica 300mg twice daily. I also take 600 mg Ibuprofin 3 times daily for artritis. I have spinal stenosis also.

Dr Brims :

Any history of trauma?

Customer:

not to the foot

Dr Brims :

Any redness and swelling?

Customer:

yes, on the bottom and side of my left foot

Dr Brims :

Okay, this is not likely neuropathy, it may be a blood clot, I would recommend you have this examined right away

Customer:

and almost to the top of my foot

Customer:

red, not a lot of swelling

Dr Brims :

Are you there?

Customer:

yes

Customer:

so, maybe a blood clot in the foot?

Dr Brims :

Yes, or a stress fracture

Customer:

ok, now, until I get it checked out, will it help to wrap my foot with an elastic bandage?

Customer:

or would that pressure make it worse?

Dr Brims :

It may make it worse, keeping it elevated may help the swelling

Customer:

ok

Dr Brims :

Is there anything else you would like to ask on this topic?

Customer:

I think not. Thanks

Dr Brims :

You're quite welcome

one other thing

Dr Brims :

ok

Customer:

I first noticed the pain when I was sitting in a vehicle that had very low seats. I had to cross my legs and instead of the bottom of my foot on the floor, the side of my foot was resting on the floor. could I have gotten a stress fracture from just sitting like that?

Customer:

That was 48 hrs ago

Dr Brims :

No, stress fractures occur from repetitive stress or weak bone, so it would not have occurred in one sitting, but over time

Customer:

but perhaps that aggravated a condition that had been developing? I was wearing shoes at that time, but I usually wear Crox sandals because of my Nueropathy ( which was caused by sciatica years ago).

Dr Brims :

Yes, it could have aggravated the condition

Customer:

ok, thanks for your time. I will get it checked.

Customer:

bye

Dr Brims :

You're welcome
