How long does xanax stay in the system

Xanax (Alprazolam) is a short acting benzodiazepine with a half life of approximately 12-15 hours and any medicine can stay in the body for 3-5 times its half life after the last dose taken after which it is completely eliminated.

Of course there are various other factors such as age, metabolic rate, ethnicity, gender, medical disorder, use of other medicines etc, which can affect the elimination of Xanax from the body but in a general adult healthy person, Xanax can stay in the system for 2-4 days approximately after the last dose taken.
