Can a fibroid tumor in the center of cervix be removed
Elective surgical removal of the fibroid by Laparoscopic/Key hole surgery would be the preferred method of removing a fibroid from the centre of the cervix.Cervical fibroids are also removed by using a Hysteroscope if they are largely in the cervical cavity.Use of Uterine Fibroid Embolisation(UFE)uses guided imaging angiographic techniques to block the blood supply of the fibroid which then shrinks rapidly in size. This is done by a Interventional Radiologist and is a alternative to surgery.Other methods include use of laser, electric current or thermal energy/heat by placing needles through the fibroid will help remove or bun the fibroid. It would depend on your Gynaecologisyt/Surgeon on what method would be most appropriate in your case.
