I d like to go for HIV PCR RNA test, how long should I wait after the possible exposure ?

Hello, and I am pleased to help, use of my answers are for educational purposes only.

Dr. Owen :

Get the test now, 2 weeks after exposure, 6 weeks after exposure and just to ensure that you really do not have it - then get the test again at 6 months after exposure.

Dr. Owen :

Usually if the test is negative by 2 weeks after exposure you do not have HIV

Dr. Owen :

I hope this helps

but these tests are expensive. I believe the PCR test is accurate. If i took one after 2 weeks and got negative then am safe right ?

I'm sorry it took so long, I was away.
Yes the 2 week test is very accurate, but to give you reassurance that is why I was suggesting those other tests.
I hope that helps
