i used a q tip to remove excess wax from it. its been a few hours and the inside part is numb. i can still hear though

OK--you probably scraped the skin of the canal when you tried to get the wax out. This isn't anything serious and it should resolve itself by tomorrow. Just don't put anything in the ear for now.
