Good morning, I was recently treated for pyelonenephritis

This answer was rated:

Good morning,

I was recently treated for pyelonenephritis with a 10 Day treatment of Levaquin 500 mg. I took the last dose on Sunday August 12.

I am beginning to feel symptoms again and purchased a urinary tract infection test kit from Walgreens. I am on my menstruation and would like to know if this will affect the test results.

I am a multiple myeloma patient with neutropenia and leukopenia.

Respectfully,
Eleanor

The traces of blood & protein in urine due to menestruation can leaad to false positive results during this period.

The presence of WBC in blood may lead to false positive test.

Would going to the ER be a more feasible option Dr. Tiwari?

As you had been treated recently with course of antibiotic so there is no sense in delaying if you are feeling the symptoms again.
