One bowel movement last week was preceded by a small amount of orange-red liquid followed by a few loose stools. Loose stools for next three bowel movements with no more orange red liquid, then returned to normal bowel movements two days later. Any advice on what this could have been. It did not look like red blood and there was no blood visible in faeces or on toilet paper. Faeces colour was light brown but I do not eat much meat however I do eat plenty of vegetables and fruit and had eaten a few cherries about one hour preceding this bowel movement.

Abdominal pain or sense of fullness in the abdomen?
Most of the factors against the possibility of bowel cancer except the drinking part.Since it seemed like isolated incident , it could be diet related as said you had cherries before it happened.
But for safety reasons considering your age , i would advise you to get a routine stool blood test to confirm it.
Are you saying that it does not seem to be possible bowel ?
Are you saying that it does not seem to be possible bowel cancer?
I am saying the chances are less with this isolated incident and lack of other bowel symptoms like constipation, mucus and loss of appetite.
Thank you for your assistance.
But you cannot say never in medical sciences
That is why a stool test for occult blood would be beneficial for screening of bowel cancer.
