I have been asked to go for a breast ultrasound after a mammogram

Resolved Question:

I have been asked to go for a breast ultrasound after a mammogram showing a well circumscribed lesion on my left breast? Can you give me any indication of what this is and the level of severity. On line searches are confusing.

Thank you Lesley Kelly

Can you tell me more about what the mammogram report said?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Hello, The mammogram report says:

BI-Lateral Mammogram:

There is a well circumscibed lesion see in the left breast on the CC view. There is a ? cyst and we suggest an ultrasound for confirmation. M3

the right breast has dense nodular breast tissue. No focal lesion seen. M2

thank you

OK. Being well circumscribed and felt to be a cyst by the radiologist is a good sign. The ultrasound will determine whether or not it is a cyst and not solid, and nearly 100% of breast cysts are entirely benign.
