How many OTC anti-histamines( pills) can create serious problems
Dear customer,

Welcome back.I am Dr.Charles and I’m happy to help with your question today.

Two types of OTC antihistamines are available:

1.First-generation OTC antihistamines are

-Brompheniramine
-Chlorpheniramine
-Dimenhydrinate
-Diphenhydramine(Benadryl)
-Doxylamine

2.Second-generation OTC antihistamines are:

-Loratadine
-Cetirizine
-Fexofenadine

First-generation antihistamines can make you feel very sleepy. This can affect your ability to drive or operate machines. These sedating antihistamines shouldn't be taken when driving or doing other potentially dangerous activities. The first few doses cause the most sleepiness; subsequent doses are usually less troublesome.

Second generation OTC antihistamines are less likely to cause such side effects.

Other common side effects are:

-Drowsiness
-Dizziness
-Nausea and vomiting
-Difficulty during urination
-Blurred vision

So like all drugs all anti histamines also have side effects. But second generation OTC anti histamines have comparatively very less adverse reactions.

Hope this helped.

Your satisfaction is my prime goal and I'm happy to answer any follow-up questions you may have. Please feel free to ask if you have any other question.

Kind Regards-
