Fenofibrate can be used to lower triglyceride level.
This is a prescription medication.
Niacin is another medication that can be used.
Niacin is also available over the counter but at lower strength.
These two medications are most commonly used along with fish oil successfully.
A statin like Crestor or Lipitor also can be combined with these medications if required.
The main side effects can be muscle pain, elevated liver enzymes, gastric upset.
But these side effects are not commonly observed.
Will Niacin work better than fish oil or should it be combined.
