Customer Question

Hello,

I sometimes get a sudden jolt pain in my chest. Yesterday it happened during moderate swimming. Like a qucik streak of lighting between center of chest and lef5 side. Happened once. I continued to swim, did not happen again.

Last month I was cycling up a steep incline with 50 lbs of gear. Felt my heart do a leap. Very weird, never like that before. Continued to cycle another 2 hours and was ok. Just backed off a little.

are either of these justification for testing?

Hello,

Welcome to Just Answer.

Though not typical of anginal pain, I feel you should talk with your doctor & have an examination.

The feeling of sudden pain can be due to muscle pain.

A muscle spasm, pull can cause it.

The feeling of heart on cycling can also be from heart.

An arrhythmia or irregular rhythm can cause it.

Doctor can take EKG, monitor or other tests to rule out heart issues.

I hope this information helps.

Please continue conversation till you are satisfied.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query by using reply button before putting negative rating.

Regards.

Is an ekg test in the absence of physical exertion likely to yield a meaningful reading for coronary blockage?

If there is irregular rhythm, then EKG or monitor can detect it.

Usually stress or treadmill tests are taken to detect coronary diseases.

After an initial check up & resting EKG, doctor can decide about further tests.
