I am covered by Medicare and Ghi insurance. So frequently with every doctors visit I will receive a notice that they did not provide and coverage.
I also find that with every visit to the pharmacy there is a significant copay. On my last visit I had a fifty dollar copay for the generic for plavix.
Is there an additional type insurance that you could suggest.

Hello JACustomer,

I hope I can help you here. As you are over 65, I suggest that you try the AARP (American Association of Retired People) website, which lists allot of insurance options and discounts, one of them may be right for you. Specifically, they have a prescription discount partnership with Walgreen's pharmacy that may be of interest to you.

Here is their website: http://www.aarphealthcare.com/understanding-health-products/valuable-discounts/prescription-discounts.html

Here is the main AARP Health Insurance Discount Website: http://www.aarphealthcare.com/understanding-health-products/valuable-discounts.html

I do not know if you have medicare supplemental or medicare advantage or medigap, here is the government web site regarding those: http://www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan/questions/medigap-home.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

Here is another web site that seems designed for senior citizens health care insurance. However, it wanted phone numbers from me, so I think if you fill it out you may be called by marketers for different health care companies. I can not vouch for its accuracy or honesty. http://www.senior-health-insurance.org/shio?wsc=35&adv=1&pt=&k w=health+insurance+for+seniors&tk=Z29vZ2xlLGRvbWFpbnNfMSxTRU5JT1ItSEVBTFRILUlOU1VSQU5DRS5PUkcsaGVhbHRoIGluc3VyYW5jZSBmb3Igc2VuaW9ycyxoZWFsdGggaW5zdXJhbmNlIGZvciBzZW5pb3Jz&prod=&cid=645236765&gclid=CIHU4b_Cp7ECFYio4AoduwUAAg&usck=1

And one more site which may have marketers who may help you find something to meet your needs: http://www.insure.com/articles/healthinsurance/add-parent.html

It is 2am here in NY; I am off the site for the evening. If you have any follow up questions or concerns, please share them and I will see them when I return to Just Answer on Friday.

I hope I was able to help,
Sincerely,
Susan

You can also go to the following social security website and fill out the extra help application, where if eligible will reduce your copays by 50% or more. Although it takes at least 60 days to get a response. There are 2 extra help programs, one is for the prescription coverage and the other is for Medicaid to pay your Medicare premiums. If you are eligible for that then all your copays for generics are 2 dollars and 6.50 for brand.Either way fill out both applications, one of them will tell you if you are eligible or not. If not sure call 1800-772-1213 social security hot line. but as the expert above told you if you are not eligible, aarp prescription coverage is the best as well as their supplemental managed care plan f is the best its $257 per month and $40 for the supplemental, its costly, but they cover so much more than GHI
