My c2 injury not healing after 3 months any advice Fractured in April and just saw neurosurgeon and he said I need bone stimulator
Optional Information: Person's Gender: Female Person's Age: 57
Well, there can be a couple of reasons for this.It may take a longer time for a fracture to heal, perhaps 6 months. This fracture may be under constant stress (movement), which is preventing it from healing. This fracture may be too big to heal. You could have osteoporosis, or thinner bone than normal, making it harder to heal.A bone stimulator can help to optimize bone healing, but it is not a magic device that will guarantee healing. Certainly if it has not healed in another three months, this will need reassessment by your neurosurgeon. In some cases, surgical fusion is necessary.
is there anything to make bone grow faster like diet or vitamins or natural remedies
Sorry, but there isn't anything that will make it grow "faster".Bone heals at a relatively constant rate, which can take months, and the best you can do is to ensure that your nutrition is good, and that there aren't reasons for your bones not to heal well.
what are reasons for the bone not to heal
People can have poor nutrition. Osteoporosis, osteopenia can make bone mineralization weaker than normal. Continued movement at the fracture site can prevent healing. There are many reasons which can hamper bone healing, and sometimes, even in healthy people, the bone doesn't heal correctly.
What kind of nutition or supplements. Ca I go to a health food store and pick up soemthine
Making sure you have enough calcium and vitamin D is important for bone health.
