Whenever I sit for long periods of time, my tail bone really hurts - I guess it is my tail bone...it is when I stand up or sit down - maybe the muscles around that area. I haven't fallen and can't think of anything I may have done that could cause this. The funny thing is, when I exercise - floor stretches it eventually quits hurting, but sitting and then getting up really hurts. thanks for your thoughts.

Sitting long time can cause muscle spasm and stiffness around the tailbone area.

mysticdoc :

Also the nerve get pinched during sitting resulting in these symptoms.

The symptoms improve with stretching or exercises.

You can use donut pillow to sit on to relieve pressure on the tailbone.

Warm water compress or hot tub also helps ti relax the muscles.
