I just developed night sweats last week. I usually drench my clothes and bedsheets. The past two nights I have had no night sweats. My girlfriend and I have had HSV 1 and 2 for quite some time (approximately a year), having intercourse without using protection only to try and start a family. I just developed night sweats, I workout a lot and I do have some slight weight loss but only because I exercise with cardio and weight lifting. I eat all the time, there really is no loss of appetite with me.I had some blood work done and my thyroid checked, and my creatinine levels were 2 and my eGFR's were at 44 and my thyroid was functioning fine. I JUST have night sweats and nothing more. Is this HIV? I got checked for TB for a pre employment drug screen and physical and the results were negative back in March 2012. I am not diabetic, nor do I have a thyroid issue.. I think it's the beginning stage of HIV even though I only have one symptom which started last week and is on and off on some days. My lymph nodes/glands are not swollen. I am working a lot of different hours, but I am not stressed or really having anxiety issues..

Hello
Thanks for your question.
Night sweats alone does not suggest HIV.
Anxiety is likely contributing to your problem.
You have elevated creatinine suggesting impaired kidney function which can cause this also.
Hence, please get this rechecked.
Drink fluids.
If you are concerned about HIV, you can get yourself checked again.
But the chances are nonexistent.
Best wishes,
What can contribute to anxiety? And anxiety can cause nightly sweats (drenched clothing and bedsheets)?
yes anxiety can cause night sweats.
Also bad kidneys can cause night sweats

What causes for someone to have anxiety? I never had an anxiety attack before and I don't know what can cause it.... Something has to give.. And I don't think my kidneys are bad, i am a bodybuilder so I use creatine and pre-workouts and stuff... And that day i had the blood tests was the day i had some creatine which was why my levels were so high... I don't drink enough water cause I pee every 5 minutes if i drink too much water. I just want the night sweats to stop.. its annoying!
anxiety occurs due to the imbalance of the chemicals in the brain.
that is why medication may be required if anxiety levels are high.
You can see a psychiatrist to treat your anxiety that should stop your night sweats.
how do I know if my anxiety levels are high?
this is an example like thinking of hiv with night sweats.
also feeling restless, insomnia
eh im not restless.. I get at least 8-9 hours of sleep if i don't have the night sweats
ok
also get tested for hepatitis --
get a blood count with differential to rule out any lymphoma possibility.
even though I have all my vaccines??
yes possible
I go back in a few weeks to get my blood re-tested so I will have to get more blood work done. Thanks

I guess I'm always thinking the worst things/possibilities out of outcomes.. I mean how often can someone who has HSV 1 and 2 same with his girlfriend get HIV for having unprotected intercourse trying to start a family?
The risk is still very low of getting HIV assuming your girlfriend has HIV in the first place.
No she doesn't have HIV.. I guess I am one of those people who are a self diagnosers.. I just thought right away, night sweats every night has to be HIV. I got my thyroid check and that was functioning normal. My creatinine levels and egfr levels were high and low but I also had creatine the day I got the blood tests done too. I have all my vaccines for hepatitis a,b,c and I had a TB test done March 1, 2012 and that came back negative. I guess this goes back to the anxiety, how does one know if he or she has anxiety problems? I guess some of my questions are repetitive but I just want to make sure nothing else is added to the check list if you know what I mean?
I understand your concern. But you are worrying unnecessarily. Once you stop worrying, you will feel better.
