Customer Question

I Just had a nosebleed with blood coming out of one nostril. I felt a clot of bood in my mouth and when I spit it out it had a slice of radish in it. yesterday and the day before I had a salad with radishes in it.I have a history of a stuffy nose that causes me to constantly sniff upward, and I have relux. I was wondering if either one of these problems could of caused the slice of radish to get in my nasal cavity, and did the radish cause the nosebleed. After i spit out the clotted bood with the radish in it my nose stop bleeding. Please keep my question private.

Hello,

Welcome to Just Answer.

How much blood was there?

How is your blood pressure?

Is there any previous disease?

Thank you.

When my nose was bleeding there was a moderate amount of blood and it was thin.I felt clotted blood in my mouth and after i spit it and the slice of radish out, my nose stopped bleeding soon after that . I did take my blood pressure and it was 140/90. I get anxious when I see blood, so i thought that was why it was elevated. I have been diagnosed with sjrogreens. I haven't seen a doctor in awile, but I recently had blood work done through private M.d.. You don't need a doctor referel for this. My ana , creactive protein and and the antibody for Lupus was positive. My Ana had been negative for several years after it had been positive for several years. When I had seen the rheumatologist my ana and sed rate had been positive, but none of the specific antibodies were positive. He ruled out cancer because my sed rate was over 100, and tried to link the ana to an immugloblin but couldn't. I'm trying to be accurate, but I saw the rheaumatologist 12 years ago so i"m not sure i describing everyting he told mye correctly. My nose has completely stopped bleeding.

Thank you for the information,

Most cases of nose bleeding is harmless though it is quite frightening,

The common causes of bleeding from nose are cold, allergy, irritation, nasal pricking, foreign body etc.

If the radish piece cause irritation, sore or infection then it can cause bleeding.

High blood pressure can cause it.

If the bleeding repeats then you need to get an examination by doctor.

Nasal polyp, growth,, respiratory infection, bleeding disorder etc. need to be ruled out.

As you have done, gently squeeze the nose for about 5-10 minutes to stop bleeding.

Ice wrapped with a piece of cloth can be kept over the hard part of the nose.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Regards.
