I was hit just below the knee with a baseball, a wild pitch.

Resolved Question:

I was hit just below the knee with a baseball, a wild pitch. My knee swelled up and a large bruise appeared. That was over a week ago. I still have an ache in my knee and find it hard to crouch down. I also have a bump just below my knee cap that is painful to the touch.

Welcome to justanswer

It is possibly a collection of blood in the bursa present in the area.
You need to have compressive bandage applied to the area.An ace bandage can serve the purpose.
In addition you should take analgesics like Aleve.
You may continue to apply ice over the area.

So will this go away? Can I still play ball right now or should I take time off?

Should I go to my dr or just leave it?

This will go away but it would be safer to take time off and have this seen by a doctor. A doctor can asses this to see if this needs to be aspirated or not as large collections may need to be removed by aspiration.
