I'm a 74 year old man, I had open heart surgery (4 bypasses) 5 years ago; I'm planning a trip to Machu Pichu (Peru) altitude 13200' what is your opinion?

How's your cardiac and pulmonary function now? Have you been in high altitude areas in the states before?

cardiac and pulmonary funtion are fine, I 've been in high altitudes long time ago.

Then there should be no problem other than the normal ones that anyone not used to that elevation may have with fatigue and relative shortness of breath with exertion. Naturally you should ask your cardiologist about this, but I think he'll give you his blessing to go and enjoy the journey.
