I am 21 wks pregnant and had a uti. I finished my antibiotics

Customer Question

I am 21 wks pregnant and had a uti. I finished my antibiotics yesterday and the symptoms are even worse. Now I'm getting worried it could hurt the baby. Should I be okay to wait until the morning to seek medical attention?

Welcome to Just Answer.

How long the uti is there?

What are your symptoms now?

How is temperature?

Thank you.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
The worst symptom is lower abdominal pain... Cramping when i urinate. Feeling like I have to pee constantly when there isn't much. Temperature looks okay.

Thank you for the information,

You can wait till morning to see doctor.

If you notice any blood in urine or if there is any discharge of blood through vagina, then you should go to ER.

Also please observe your temperature.

If it goes high, you should have an urgent examination.

Pl try to take plenty of fluid to keep good hydration.

This will be helpful in UTI.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Best wishes.

One more question please..why would the antibiotics fail to stop infection?
Expert:  Dr. Saha replied 4 years ago.
Sometimes, bacteria can be resistant to one or more antibiotic & that antibiotic may not work.

In this case, your doctor may take a culture & sensitivity test of urine.

This can find out which antibiotic will work well.
