What is the cause and treatment for Myelodysplasia

Myelodysplasia can be caused by genetic mutations, exposure to chemicals and radiation such as chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancers or benzene, insectides, etc. Sometimes myelodysplasia can occur with no known cause. Treatment is supportive with transfusions as necessary, certain medications such as Hycamtin, Lenalidomide, and in some causes bone marrow transplant. If you have been diagnosed with this, you need to be seen regularly by a hematologist/oncologist.
