Welcome to just answer
I am sorry to hear of your discomfort
Could you tell me your age ?
30 years old male
Have you experienced something like this in the past ?
No I have not
Have the symptoms increased or decreased since they first started ?
Are you suffering from any medical condition or on any medication ?
Thank you for the information . The symptoms you have do suggest an infection .
The commonest is viral ,though in the case of a viral infection it does subside within a 10 day period
If your discomfort still is persistent then a bacterial infection needs exclusion and antibiotics are required if a bacterial infection is the cause
Thus as of now you should gargle with luke warm water and salt
You should take advil as it will ease out the inflammation
I have been doing that for for the past 3-4 days
but not helping much
Has it not got you any relief ?
just a little
IN that case you should get this checked and your doctor will need to prescribe you antibiotics
He can examine you and then prescribe antibiotics after he does so .
Thus as you are not gettingg better a bacterial infection seems likely
what about fever fluctuation (37.3-38.2 Celcius) it goes up and down every day
The fever does come on with an infection
can I do anything at home before going to the doctor to ease my pain?
So once the infection will get treated then the fever will subside as well
I also caugh and it gets worse at night time
Yes all these symptoms are suggestive of an infection .
anything I can do for that? I can't sleep because of that
Once you get the antibiotic treatment then these symptoms should subside .
is there a name for that infection?
Well we need to treat the cause of these symptoms for which an antibiotic is required .There are various bacteria that case an infection . An example is streptococcal infection
Thus this is a common causative organism
I hope you are getting my point ?
so there is nothing I can do to ease my pain before I go to the doctor?
You should drink a lot of liquids
You get cough drops over the counter
You should try them as well as they can give symptomatic relief
You should use a vapouriser
This will help clear the mucus
Steam inhalation helps as well
Please also take the advil as that will decrease inflammation and decrease your discomfort while you swallow as well
Do you have a lot of phlegm ?
OK thank you very much for all your help. Hope I will feel better soon.
don't know what that means
I mean to you have sputum with your cough ?
Do you have a dry cough or do you get mucus each time you cough ?
it's a dry cough
sorry I'm here
You can try delsym or robitussin cough available over the counter to ease out the cough
This will help you sleep better by decreasing the cough till you get to your doc
