The pill is Nature Throid, 130mg Thyroid USP, which is (desiccated porcine thyroid gland) and as compared to Synthroid (levothyroxine) , while both are used as replacement therapy for under active thyroid, the main reason synthroid is preferred is due to the fact that Natural thyroid's amounts of T3 and T4 can vary greatly from batch to batch, additionally, Natural Thyroid provides T4 and T3 thyroid hormones, and synthroid only provides T4. Different Doctors prefer one over the other depending upon the individual patient's needs.

ARE THEY SIMILIAR DOSAGES ? THE NATUAL ONE IS 2 GR. AND THE SYNTHOID IS .5

120 milligrams of Armour, or natural thyroid mediation ( 2 grains) is the approximate equivalent of 200 Micrograms ( 0.2 mg) of synthroid... so the Natural Thyroid is a MUCH higher dose. 1/4 of the Natural thyroid medication tablet would be the approximate equivalent of one .05mg of Synthroid.
