How long have you been undergoing treatment?
What tests have you had done to diagnose your IBS?
no test my dr just said based on my symptoms i have ibs
i did have a colonoscopy it came back good
Usually IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion. In other words other causes of your symptoms have been ruled out and then if all results are negative IBS is diagnosed. Therefore, if after 2 weeks of being on probiotics, etc and you are still having symptoms of decreased appetite, bloating, etc you need further testing
testing for what
I recommend having simple blood work such as CMP, lipase to start off with along with an ultrasound of your belly or CT scan to look into causes of your symptoms such as your pancreas, gallbladder, etc. You may also require an EGD (since you have already had a colonoscopy done) to rule out that this isnt gastritis or gerd
what is an egd is that endoscopy
yes it is an endoscopy
but it is from your mouth to look at your esophagus and stomach
is a cmb different from cbc
a CMP stands for complete metabolic panel. its a test that checks your electrolytes, liver function and kidney function, and glucose
thank you doc do you have any ideas as to what my problem is
Without the proper imaging tests it is hard to say. It could be anything from gastritis, reflux, gallbladder issue, diverticulitis, colitis
thank you for your time
You are very welcome
Do you have any further questions?
