Healthy retired nurse -- have old lumbar four disc herniation, no surgery, few problems
Well, if you already have some lumbar disc problem then these symptoms should not be take lightly.
Saw family doctor, am having MRI -- on lisinopril, metoprolol and zantac -- bp is 118/78
These can be indicative of complication of the cauda equina syndrome.
If you also have some loss of bowel and bladder control then you need to visit emergency right away .
Your questions ?
No bowel or bladder issues -- why the itching and burning
what else could be causing this
This occurs as the nerves are pinched by the abnormal lumbar vertebrae.
Most common symptoms are numbness and tingling in the perineal area.
Burning can also occur in nerve damage but itching is less common.
Thank you -- am having MRI tomorrow -- really hoping this is going to be alright -- numbness is not severe
Itching can be due to some local irritation or allergy.
I hope you get well soon.
