My 13 year old son had a fever of 102-103, stiff neck and stiff

Resolved Question:

My 13 year old son had a fever of 102-103, stiff neck and stiff legs, fatigue, dizzy, headache. No sinus or intestinal issues. I took him to the emergency room Friday night after he reported the stiff neck. They said he had enough neck mobility that meningiitus was not the cause, they did a CBC nothing unusual found. They said maybe a cold which seems unlikely without any sinus issues. My concern is that he still has a fever, last night 102-103+ , today 101+. I continue to give motrin although not as often as every 4-6 hours. He still has a headache (rather bad today), he still is dizzy. Today will be the third day of fever, I know he is fighting something but what and how long should we go with a fever and other symptoms before I take him back to the hospital. With the holiday weekend, a office visit is not possible.

Thanks for all the information.

Since he is getting better there is nothing to worry.

No need to visit ER now.

You can visit your doctor if possible a pediatrician on Monday.

If there is high consistent fever , severe headache , increased neck stiffness or appearance of any rash then visit ER asap.

Thanks

Please feel free if you have doubts or question.
