I am a stroke survivor. While walking down stairs I put undue pressure on my toes. I felt a pulling and pain. I sprained my left foot which is the affected side. Great pain- could barely stand on it. hurt for three days I have an ex-ray. Can barely walk on it. should I have an x-ray. I wrap it and use ice pack.

When did it occur? How?

Is there any swelling, redness, warmth, tenderness?

june 29th walking down stairs putting toes down first -swelling -slightly discolored- very tender on top of foot - can barely stand to walk. I walk with a quad cane.wrapping has helped. fell twice as I lost my balance.
Thank you for all the information.

I would advise to get it checked by doctor when there is discoloration..

The pain is quite severe & there can be a crack in the bone.

Till then please keep it at rest.

Ice can be applied for the first 48 hours then heat application will be helpful.

Keep it elevated when possible.

You can take tylenol for pain.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Best wishes.
