neuralgia..She says that now her ear is aching..back..outbreaks

Resolved Question:

My mom has been suffering from post-herpetic neuralgia for the past year or so. She says that now her ear is aching because of it and that she thinks that the shingles has "moved" to her lower back. She has to signs of outbreaks. She is just referring to the pain or the sensation of the nerves moving to her back and her ear. Is this possible? She says that the pain gets worse when she is tired or stressed.

Dr B :

Hello, welcome to Justanswer, I will try to assist you with your medical question, and any medical information you seek

Dr B :

The pain she is experiencing may be from irritation of the nerve roots

Dr B :

Nortriptyline may not help as much as a drug like lyrica or neurontin

Customer:

OK thank you. I will have to ask her doctor to look into those meds.

Dr B :

You're welcome
