mysticdoc :

Hello,

mysticdoc :

Thanks for your question.

mysticdoc :

Klonopin is clonazepam and belongs to benzodiazepine family of medications.

mysticdoc :

This medication is specifically used to treat anxiety, panic attacks etc.

mysticdoc :

You should not stop klonopin abruptly as it causes rebound anxiety and withdrawal symptoms.

mysticdoc :

Ideally you need to reduce klonopin dose by 25% every 2 weeks.

mysticdoc :

You need to do this under care of a psychiatrist.

mysticdoc :

An antidepressant like citalopram, sertraline, duloxetine may be helpful in reducing your withdrawal symptoms.

mysticdoc :

Other medications that can be used to help with the klonopin withdrawal symptoms are hydroxyzine, or buspirone.

mysticdoc :

Please discuss these options with your doctor.
