Thank you for the information,

There are few lifestyle changes which you may be aware already like avoiding smoking, taking less fat, maintaining ideal weight or BMI are important.

Regular exercise & walking at least for 30 min. for 5 days a week will help a lot.

You have to restrict salt too which can help in lowering blood pressure.

Diet rich in vegetables, fruits, are good. Oat meal, almonds, walnuts, fish rich omega 3 fatty acid are good to keep your cholesterol down.

Here are 2 links which can help you in planning your diet.

You need to get regular follow up with doctor & have the blood pressure & cholesterol levels checked.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Regards.

thank you for the imformation but i want to know how to bring them down please
Expert:  Dr. Saha replied 3 years ago.
If your levels are mildly high then you can try life style measures initially, as I wrote.

If they do not help then you can need medicines to lower cholesterol.

Different groups are used.

Statins are often used initially. They have good protective values.

Some of them are lovastatin, rosuvastatin, atorvastatin, lovastatin, pravastatin, simvastatin etc.

The other groups of medicines can be -

Bile acid sequestrants like cholestyramine, colestipol, colesevalam etc.

Cholesterol absorption inhibitors like zetia. This drug can be combined with statin & can help to lower the dose of statins.

Nicotinic acid or niacin.

Fibrates like gemfibrozil etc.
